Georgia DB Jakeen Harris talks NC State commitment

NC State is in the 919 area code in Raleigh, but it might think it is in the 912 area.

Dylan McMahon committed to the Wolfpack last Friday and he is out of Savannah (Ga.) Savannah Christian in the 912 area code and they just added another from that same area.

Jakeen Harris of Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine committed to the Wolfpack Tuesday evening and he is excited about his future in the ACC.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I chose NC State because of the brotherhood that they have and the coaching staff," said Harris. "I visited NC state one time and it was last Saturday. I fell in love with the campus. I loved the way they treat they players. I also loved the education that I will be getting.

"I made my mind up about it yesterday then I told the NC state coaches today. I talked to coach Roof and coach Doeren and they were very excited.

"I feel good to be committed. It takes a lot of stress off of me and lets me focus on getting my team ready to compete for another state championship."

RIVALS REACTION: This commitment came as no surprise. Maybe it happened a little quicker than expected, but NC State and North Carolina have been the favorites for a some time. Others like Appalachian State, Indiana and Minnesota were being considered too, but he has been an ACC lean for a little while. Harris is a versatile defensive back who is likely to play safety on the next level. He is an instinctive player, very competitive and one who does not shy away from contact.
