Georgia DB has offer, plenty of interest

Junior cornerback Taurean Ferguson of Jonesboro (Ga.) is thrilled to finally have offer No. 1 in the bank. But he hopes it is only the start.
"I was very excited - very excited to get my first offer," he said. "But now I'm waiting for all the other ones to come."

Akron became the first to pull the trigger late last week.
"I really hadn't been talking to them," Ferguson said. "It kind of came out of the blue to be honest. They saw my highlight tape and said, 'We're going to offer.'"
Former FSU and NFL standout defensive back Terrell Buckley, now an assistant at Akron, was the one who gave Ferguson the good news.
"I talked to him and he said I play with great feet and I'm very smooth," Ferguson said. "He said he could do a lot with me."
The 5-feet-10, 175-pound Ferguson said he also is hearing from Iowa State, Northwestern, TCU and Western Kentucky. He visited Auburn last week. Right now, Ferguson has no other visits planned.
"I talked to [Auburn assistant Tommy Thigpen] and he said just to stay in contact," Ferguson said. "I'm on their charts as far as DBs go."
A two-year starter, Ferguson recorded six interceptions in 2011
