Roderick Rogers has picked up a new scholarship offer and has
immediately bumped that team into his current top five.
"Wisconsin is the most recent team to offer," said
Rogers, a 6-foot-2, 182-pound safety and a member of the Rivals.com
Georgia
Top 50 team. "I've really enjoyed talking to their coaches
and how they go about working with their student athletes. They're also
supposed to have a real good sports medicine program, which is what I want
to major in. I've heard nothing but good things about them, so they're high
on my list right now."
Rogers says the Badgers occupy the No. 2 spot on his
list behind his long-standing favorite, LSU.
"LSU is still No. 1," he said. "I enjoy their
coaching staff and see them on TV a lot. They had a bad game against Auburn
this weekend, but they're still playing pretty good this year.
"I went down there in the summer and really liked
the campus, all the facilities, the people in the program. I have a lot of
respect for coach (Nick) Saban. I like the way he coaches and the way their
players respond."
Rogers also has offers from Alabama, Middle
Tennessee, West Virginia, Tulane and Vanderbilt. He said after LSU and
Wisconsin, the most likely destinations for official visits are West
Virginia and Tulane. "I'm not sure about the fifth one," he said.
Through eight games this season, Rogers has recorded
45 tackles, six pass break-ups and four interceptions in helping lead
Stephenson High School to an undefeated record and a No. 3 ranking in the
Peach State's Class 5A. As a junior he had 90 tackles and one interception.
