Georgia ATHs stock rising

Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek is a hot spot for recruiters this season with four-star wideout Calvin Johnson drawing the majority of the attention.
But he’s far from a one-man show for Sandy Creek, which takes a 10-0 record into the state playoffs this week. One of his main sidekicks is athlete Will Judson, who is quiety putting up good numbers of his own.

“I’ve had 15 catches for 283 yards and three touchdowns on offense,” he said. “I’ve averaged 40 yards on punt returns and taken two back for touchdowns. I also have one kickoff return for a touchdown, but they’ve quit kicking to me now.”
His playmaking ability has helped Judson (5-9, 165, 4.4) draw scholarship offers from Duke, Memphis, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Indiana, as well as heavy interest from South Carolina.
“Wake Forest and Georgia Tech say I need to get 900 on my SAT, but they have guaranteed me they’ll have an offer if I do that or get all B’s this year,” Judson said. “I have a 3.0 GPA and a 860 now, so I think I’m going to get it on my next try.
“I’m supposed to go to South Carolina for the Clemson game this weekend. They’re kind of talking like they’re going to offer me.”
Judson said he doesn’t have a clear leader at this point, but would like to stay as close to home as possible. That puts Georgia Tech and South Carolina in a good position with him. He took two unofficial visits to see the Yellow Jackets this season, watching the Auburn and Clemson games.
He plans to take an official visit to Memphis “sometime in January” and Indiana on Jan. 16. The rest are still in the works.
