Georgia ATH names top four

Ranked as the No. 24 defensive tackle in the country by Rivals.com and the No. 88 player in the Southeast Elite 88, three-star athlete Earnest Mitchell, Jr., Jr. from Newnan, Ga., is surprisingly still waiting on offers from some of his top schools.
The 6-foot-1, 290-pound defender runs the 40-yard dash in 4.89 seconds and realizes that a good senior season will take him a long way. He currently has his sights set on four schools.

“Florida State, Maryland, Clemson, and LSU,” are tops on his list right now. What separates these teams from the pack?
“At Florida State I like the tradition and they have cool coaches, The d-line coach, Coach O’Dell, is real cool.
Maryland is in there, but I think they are on suspension, and I want to go to a school that is going to a bowl. I’ve got to talk to them. I went there, and I like the facilities, the coaches, and the academics. I have family in Maryland too.
“I haven’t been to see Clemson, but I like their recruiter, and it is not far from here.
“I’ve just watched LSU on TV, and I like the way they run their plays.”
Mitchell camped at Vanderbilt, Maryland, and Florida State over the summer and, although he has received offers from North Carolina, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, Maryland, South Carolina, and Ole Miss, his other favorites are still waiting. Earnest is confident that they will be forthcoming soon, though.
“Florida State and Clemson said they will when they see me,” he said, but added that he will have plenty of time to wait on those offers before making up his mind. “Right now, I am just focusing on high school and the two classes I need to graduate.”
Mitchell recorded 77 tackles (19 for loss) as a junior. He maintains an 83 average and has already scored the necessary 68 composite score on the ACT. He plans to major in business or management.
