Geordon Porter expected to have a good time during his official visit to Utah. That’s how those trips usually go.

The three-star wide receiver from Etiwanda, Calif., had an even better time than he had hoped, which means the Utes are a clear contender as his recruitment continues.

“Utah was a great experience,” Porter said. “It was greater than I expected.”

Two things especially stood out to Porter, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound speedster who has a brother playing at Washington State.

And they are two crucial things as Porter thinks about which program will fit him best.

“The players on the team are really close to each other like brothers,” Porter said. “The coaches treated me very well and taught me things that will help me later on in life.

“Coach (Sharrieff) Shah and coach (Kyle) Whittingham were great because they taught me a lot on how I could play both sides at Utah. Salt Lake City is a great place and there are things to do around there. The facilities at Utah were amazing also.”

The Etiwanda standout who is being recruited as a wide receiver and as a defensive back by some schools has also been highly complimentary of recent visits to Notre Dame and Arizona State.

Porter, one of the top wide receivers in the Inland Empire, said he’s considering visits to Georgia and Purdue as his senior season continues.
