TCU added to its 2024 recruiting class on Friday with an in-state commitment. Decatur (Texas) running back Nathaniel Palmer announced his pledge to the Horned Frogs, providing Sonny Dykes and company with an important win on the trail.

"I’ve been to TCU five or six times and it always feels like home," Palmer told Rivals.com about what led to his commitment. "The staff is like one big family. I feel like I can talk to them and I’ve known them forever."

TCU beat out an impressive offer sheet that also featured Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan State, USC, and several others. Ultimately, Palmer's trust in running backs coach Anthony Jones was too much for other schools to overcome.

"Coach Jones and his development of running backs and getting them to the league (played a big factor). Coach Kaz (Kazadi) and his development of players. He is second to none. I can’t wait to get there and see what he does for me as a player."

The Horned Frogs' relentless pursuit paid off in getting Palmer in the class. Palmer felt like a priority from the entire staff, and he sees the opportunity to put both himself and the program on the map in even bigger fashion.

"Honestly, it was just how genuine they were. It wasn’t a fake. Not one time that I visited did it seem fake," explained Palmer. "I also feel like I’m the most underrated running back in the country and I feel like TCU is underrated, even after going to a national championship."

Palmer becomes the sixth pledge in the Horned Frogs' growing haul, joining the likes of four-star quarterback Hauss Henjy and four-star offensive tackle Tobias Steppes. Dykes and staff are looking to carry the momentum from the 2022 college football season over to the trail.

"It being close to home, it’s important that my family gets to see me play," said Palmer. "The Frogs are the best team in Texas. Why not stay home and play for Horned Frog Nation?"
