Gem Of A Linebacker Feels The Way

One of the elite defensive gems in the southeast hails from the state of Mississippi. This year happens to be a very productive year for defensive gems in the state. Which one is running around with so much promise?
Without a doubt the answer to the question is Batesville (MS) South Panola middle linebacker Chris Herring is a name to watch out for this coming season. Herring is 6-foot-2 and 257 pounds. He moves that frame around at a rate of 4.45 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He also has a world class vertical jump of 44 inches. Throw those numbers along with his frame and athlete barely describes his potential.

He is already without a doubt one of the top players in the southeast, but with a breakout season he might to the national charts as well.
"They all want me to be a linebacker," he said. "I would play defensive end also if they needed me there."
Who are the schools you are referring to as your favorites?
"Mississippi, Mississippi State and Florida are at the top," he said. "Georgia, Tennessee and Louisiana State would also be up there."
Will be near home be a major factor?
"Location won’t be much of a factor," he said. "My family wants to see me play, but it is my decision."
"I am just looking for somewhere that will let me run," he said. "Right now, I have offers from the entire SEC, NC State, Southern Mississippi and Memphis."
So having his choice will not be the major factor. The major factors as with most top talents are the top major schools in the southeast.
