Geffard twins receiving heavy interest

Spring practice has ended at Oakland Park (Fla.) Northeast High School and there have been over 50 Division-I coaches taking in practices and spring games at the South Florida high school. Two of the players that those coaches have been coming to check out are twins Isaac Geffard and Jacob Geffard.

The Geffard twins, both safeties for Northeast, have received interest from a wide array of programs such as Wisconsin, UCF, Miami and several others. Currently Isaac, who is in slightly better standing academically than his brother, has received three written offers.

"A lot of coaches have been coming through," Isaac said. "I've picked up three offers but I've got at least 12 that are on the table but I can't really get them until I qualify with my grades. Right now I've got offers from Louisville, Iowa State and FIU."

Among those three, Isaac is hearing most heavily from Louisville and FAU.

"I'm very open right now as far as what I do but the ones that seem the most interested and serious are Louisville and FIU," he said. "I talked to coach Cristobal and the Louisville coach Bill Miller. He wants me to get up there this summer as an unofficial visit.

"I like Louisville. I watch them a whole lot of TV, me and my brother. I actually am friends with one of their starting DBs, Woody Turenne and his cousin is our running back."

Isaac along with his brother is set to take the SAT and ACT tests this summer and hopes that a good score will spark more offers and there are four schools that really stand out.

"Grades is really separating us from the big big D-I offers," Isaac said. "Right now, me and my brother, we're trying to go to the same school. Every school that's recruiting me is recruiting him. Right now we like Wisconsin, UCF, UConn and UM."

With grades in mind, Jacob, who is still waiting on his first official offer, will have a strong focus on academics this summer.

"Schools are just waiting on my grades right now but right now it looks like Marshall is going to offer even with grades," Jacob said. "Really this summer just getting my grades and working out will be what I'm doing. I signed up for an online class in biology and I'm taking three classes in summer school."

The lean, versatile athletes have the ability to grow into outside linebackers or use their length in the secondary so where are most schools recruiting the Geffard twins to play?

"They're actually half and half," Jacob said. "Some of them have been looking at playing us on the hash as safeties but some like us as outside linebackers. My brother plays free and I'm more of a rover. I love both positions. To me really, I'm willing to play whatever position is best for the team. I love playing the hash and I love being in the mix of everything at outside linebacker."
