Gators trail Vols for Everett

Bushnell (Fla.) South Sumter defensive tackle Marty Everett currently has two scholarship offers from Southeastern Conference programs and the program currently in the lead is a surprise given what other program wants him.
Florida and Tennessee have stepped up to the plate with offers for the 6-foot-4, 300-pounder.

"I'm excited to get offers from Florida and Tennessee," he said.
Everett is the cousin of Florida linebacker Earl Everett. But just because the Gators have offered and he has family ties to the program doesn't mean that he's ready to jump on board with Florida this early.
"My cousin went to that school," he said. "He's been a starter, but I want to start somewhere else. I don't know if I want to go behind him."
He added, however, that he will head to a Junior Day event at the University of Florida in the coming months.
Everett has gone on the record as saying that Tennessee is his current leader.
"They are a good school," he said. "They have been recruiting me real hard and they want me real bad."
Matt Luke is recruiting Everett for the Vols.
Everett also is interested in Florida State, Auburn and LSU.
That there are a number of things that Everett feels make him a legitimate Division I-A prospect.
"I can get through offensive linemen and I got good speed," he said.
