Gators play host to Maryland WR

Three-star Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic wide receiver Derrick McPhearson says his final official visit has given him something to think about in the days to come.
“I just got back from Florida,” he said. “It was wonderful… everything I expected and more. I loved the hospitality of the people more than anything. They just had great people down there who made me feel special and wanted. It was a great visit.”

Asked if it gave him thoughts of a commitment, McPhearson laughed and said: “It gave me a lot to think about. I loved it.”
He cited Florida's "prestige and tradition" as well as the "beautiful weather" as other key factors in the Gators' favor.
"I want to play baseball, too, and they have a great baseball program," he said. "It's a good situation down there."
McPhearson (5-11, 175, 4.4) said he will mull his decision tonight and in the days leading up to signing day.
“It’s between Florida, Maryland and V-Tech,” he said. “I really don’t know right now. I’m feeling so good about Florida right now, but all of them are great. It’s a tight race. I may not decide until Wednesday.”
McPhearson is rated the No. 42 wide receiver in the nation by Rivals.com. As a senior, he caught 38 passes for 930 yards and 14 touchdowns.
