Gators offer 2017 WR Matthews

Add Florida to the already impressive list of offers for 2017 receiver D.J. Matthews of Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Matthews also has offers from Florida State, Clemson, LSU and Tennessee among others.
Matthews thinks it was a recent performance at the IMG 7-on-7 national tournament coupled with a teammate's recommendation that may led to the Gators offering.

"I'm guessing coach Muschamp heard a lot about me from that camp and they wanted to offer me," he said. "I think they've been recruiting me because my teammate Tristan Payton is committed there and he's been putting a word in for me."
Payton said at this point he doesn't have any favorites, but was glad to have Florida as an option.
"I'm from Florida, so it's an honor to get an offer from them," he said. "The Gators are my family. I have a lot of family members that went to Florida."
Florida State, Clemson, Florida and Miami are schools that jump out the most to him so far.
This summer he's visited another school that's offered him, South Carolina and will visit Florida State sometime in the next two weeks, and possibly to Florida next week. He's already been to Florida State earlier this summer for a camp and will be there just to tour the campus when he goes this time.
