Gators lead for Tampa athlete

Tampa (Fla.) Hillsborough athlete Jarred Fayson has been all the rave since he turned in an amazing performance at a very talented Miami NIKE camp back in April. He has picked up dozens of offers since, but one team seems to be pulling away.
"I am still pretty open right now," Fayson said. "Miami, Florida, Duke and Oklahoma are some of my main favorites, but Florida has set itself above everyone right now. I have been to Florida, Florida State and Miami over the past few years and Florida is just great. Urban Meyer is such a family oriented guy, you get that close comfortable feel when you are there, its like a big family.

When I was up there, Sam Young, Tim Tebow, Jamar Hornsby and a bunch of other big time guys were there and we all got to know one another. The coaches spent time with us and our families and they are building a close knit, family oriented environment there."
The 6-foot-0, 184-pound Fayson proved he is one of the fastest players in the nation when he ran a 4.32 second 40-yard dash. He also ran a 4.01 shuttle, had a 35-inch vertical jump and did 17 bench press reps.
"I checked out my ranking on Rivals.com," Fayson said. "Anyway you look at it, it is a big accomplishment, but I thought I might get into the top 50. I definitely want to get that ranking up and I want to be a five star at the end and I am just going to keep working hard to accomplish that."
Fayson checked in at No. 77 in the Rivals 100 and is ranked as the nation's No. 7 athlete. As a junior he rushed for 600 yards and had 900 passing yards.
"I am going to take all of my visits and my goal is to announce sometime close to signing day with Jamar Hornsby," Fayson said. "Right now I am confident that we will go to the same place. I can tell this, right now Florida is No. 1 on both our lists."
While the Gators are out to the lead for the talented Tampa gunslinger, don't forget the Hurricanes looming down in Miami.
"They are my other top school," Fayson said. "I really like Miami a lot, it's a fun place. I am going down there this Thursday and I am going to talk to the coaches and check everything out a little more."
