Gators lead for hard-hitting safety

Clearwater (Fla.) Catholic’s LeRue Rumph has been getting a lot of attention this spring from college recruiters. The 6-foot-2 and 210 pound strong safety has been offered by Clemson, South Florida, Central Florida, West Virginia and Southern Cal.
The next school that could extend him a scholarship offer might be his favorite team growing up.

“Coach Zook is coming down to my school on May 6th for our spring practice,” Rumph said. “When he does, I kind of expect him to offer me. Florida is my favorite because I grew up a Gator fan. The other schools that I like are Miami, Southern Cal, North Carolina State and Florida State.”
Rumph has excellent size and he feels like that is one of his strengths. “When playing wide receiver or strong safety, I use my size to my advantage,” Rumph said. “On the field I don’t talk a lot of trash. I just get the job done.”
