Gators land R150 prospect

For more than two years the Florida Gators prioritized Noah Dickerson, traveling to North Atlanta High School to watch the 2015 power forward, following him on the travel circuit, and getting to know his family.

It all paid off on Sunday afternoon when Dickerson committed to the Gators.

"I've just known for a while that I wanted to go to Florida and it was more so like I didn't need to take my other official visits," Dickerson said. "I trust Coach Donovan so much so I was ready to make the call."

The native of Georgia originally committed to Georgetown in May. But a month later, shortly after a stellar performance at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, he reopened his recruitment, making the announcement on his Twitter page.

Even with a busy summer of traveling for skills camps and AAU tournaments, Dickerson and his mother regularly discussed his options.

"It's been a lot outside of traveling so much to play basketball," Dickerson said. "My mom and I were having constant conversations about schools and I think I made the best decision. My mom loves my decision. She said needed me to go to a school with a coach with good character. Coach Donovan is a great coach and he's also a great person with a great character and that attracted my mom from the beginning."

The No. 56 ranked player in the Rivals 150 said Gators head coach Billy Donovan was very happy to get his commitment.

"He said he was doing backflips. He was very happy and very glad," Dickerson said. "Coach Donovan said I would play the four in his system; he said he would develop my outside skills since I have instincts to play outside but he likes me down low posting up, playing the four. In the coming days he said we'll talk about the things he wants me to work on."

In the middle of his junior season at North Atlanta High School, the 6-foot-8, 240-pound Dickerson transferred to Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. Per Florida transfer rules, he was ineligible to play for Montverde until the postseason when he helped Montverde win the Dick's Sporting Goods High School National Tournament over Oak Hill Academy.
