Gators, Hogs join the fight for Lang

Three-star Tucker (Ga.) defensive end/linebacker Brandon Lang has picked up a new scholarship offer and scheduled his first official visit.
“I just got an offer from Florida about a week or so ago,” he said. “They’ve come on really strong. Coach Locksley has been staying on top of me lately. I’m probably going to go take an official visit there now. I’ve always liked Florida. I watched them a lot growing up.”

Lang (6-5, 225, 4.55) is rated one of the Top 20 players in the Peach State and the No. 15 strongside defensive end in the nation. He has offers from Florida, Florida State, Arkansas, Louisville, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina and Wake Forest. Georgia and Nebraska are also showing considerable interest.
“I’ve set one of my official visits,” he said. “I’ll be going to Arkansas on Jan. 17. The other four will probably be Georgia, Florida, Florida State and Nebraska… or maybe Louisville.”
Lang has listed UGA and FSU as his co-leaders since early summer. Has anything changed in that regard?
“No. Not really,” he said. “It’s just that some others, like Florida and Arkansas, have moved up. I’m still pretty high on Georgia and Florida State.”
Regarding Arkansas, Lang said: “They’ve just shown me their depth chart and how I could fit in there and get some early playing time. They have two seniors and a junior at my position. It’s a pretty good situation.”
He’s made unofficial visits to FSU (vs. Miami) and Georgia (vs. Auburn).
Through eight games this season, Lang has recorded 38 tackles and eight sacks. As a junior, he had 50 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 16 sacks.
Academically, he carries a 2.6 GPA and must still clear the ACT/SAT hurdle. He said he’ll be taking the tests again next month, but is “real close” to a qualifying score.
