Gators, Heels high on OLs list

Tallahassee (Fla.) North Florida Christian offensive lineman Paul Walsh has his focus on four schools late in the recruiting process.
“I’m going to visit UCF (1/9), North Carolina (1/16), Middle Tennessee (1/20) and Florida (1/30),” he said. “Florida is probably my top choice, but I’m still waiting on an offer from them. They’re telling me to hang in there, that I’m up high on their list of offensive linemen that they haven’t offered yet, and if things work out right, I’ve got a chance. They told me to be patient and see what happens.

“North Carolina is looking good as far as the schools who have offered. One of my best friends (Roger Heinz) plays quarterback there, and it seems like a real nice place. I’m comfortable with the coaching staff there and my chance to come in and play relatively early. I’m looking forward to my official visit.”
Central Florida was the first school to offer, something that has stuck with Walsh (6-6, 288, 5.2).
“They’ve recruited me pretty hard,” he said. “I was a little worried when they had their shakeup with the coaches, but I’m pretty excited about them getting coach O’Leary. I think that’s a great hire for them. I also like how it’s close to home, and I should have a chance to go in there and play right away.”
Walsh recently participated in the Cal-Florida Bowl, helping lead the Sunshine State all-stars to a 24-22 victory.
