Gator gunner

Jacksonville (Fla.) Nease quarterback Tim Tebow took the official visit that everyone was waiting for -- a trip to Gainesville to see Urban Meyer and the Gators. The 6-foot-3, 217-pounder is ranked as the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the nation by Rivals.com and has been considered a Florida lean by many. How did the trip go and what's next for the big lefty?
"It was a good visit, I always have a good time when I'm there," said Tebow, who left early Monday afternoon. "I wouldn't say it was anything different from the other visits except that Florida paid for it. They did a few extra things and it's been neat, but I've been there so much that I already felt comfortable and knew everything I wanted to know."

Tebow was hosted by Todd McCullough on his visit.
"It was nice because he played ball with my brother so we had some things in common," he said. "He was a good host. I met with coach Meyer this morning and that went well. All the coaches try to figure out what you're thinking and where they're at with you, but I just need to do what's best for me and discuss it with my family. Florida has always been in the family and it's a great place, but I need to choose a school for myself and not family or friends."
Speaking of friends, Tebow learned that his good friend Jarred Fayson committed to Florida this weekend, joining another good friend, Jamar Hornsby, as a futue Gator. Did the duo try to work on Tebow to join them?
"Yes sir, they were working on me a bit," he said. "They want me to be a Gator and I'd like to play with them, that's for sure. But that's not a reason to pick a school. It helps a lot that they'd be there and I'm happy for them."
Next up for Tebow is his final official visit to Southern Cal and then an announcement on ESPN on Dec. 14. Tebow had already been to LSU, Alabama and Michigan before Florida and all of the schools are being considered.
"I'm looking forward to seeing Southern Cal and that atmosphere and offense," he said. "That should be a fun trip."
Tebow led his team to within two games of the state title this past weekend in a 57-21 win over Eastside. Tebow threw for 374 yards and 2 touchdowns on the night while running for two more.
