Gatlin mentions early leaders

Back at the beginning of the New Year, 5-foot-10, 160-pound athlete Tavon Gatlin landed his first scholarship. The Virginia Beach (Va.) Green Run prospect hauled in an offer from I-AA James Madison. Little has been heard from the junior prospect since.
"I have been getting interest from other schools, Louisville, Tennessee and Clemson. I haven't really heard much from the in-state schools, Virginia or Virginia Tech," he said. "All of the schools looking at me are good schools that have good football programs."

Some colleges are showing interest, Gatlin hasn't heard from a couple of his early favorites.
"My favorite college is Miami since they produce really good defensive backs," he stated. "I like Maryland a lot too. They are not too far away; it's just a drive to visit my family.
"Overall, I just want a good education and a place that'll give me a chance on the field."
Although he isn't looking at unofficials to schools yet, Gatlin will take a couple trips in the next couple months for camps and combines.
"I'm going to the Baltimore Nike Combine on April 15th and the Nike Camp at Chapel Hill on May 2nd."
