GaTech, Vandy among TEs leaders

One of the Sunshine State’s top prospects at tight end has been receiving a steady flow of visitors to the Venice practice field this spring.
Brad Allen (6-4, 240, 4.78) says he’s had at least 25 coaches visit since May 1 and is sitting on a handful of scholarship offers.

“Michigan, Purdue, Clemson, Virginia, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Duke and a bunch of others have come to see me,” he said. “I’ve got offers from Georgia Tech, Purdue, Furman, Clemson and Vanderbilt.”
He’s also received interest from Auburn, Florida and Miami, among a host of other schools.
Is there a favorite at this point?
“I think there are three or four,” Allen said. “I’m looking close at Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Stanford and Clemson right now. But I’m keeping an open mind to everyone I’ve talked to. It’s real early. I’m not close to making a decision or anything.”
The key factors in his recruitment will be “a combination of academics and athletics” and “how I relate to the coaching staff.”
Allen was an honorable mention Class 6A all-state selection as a junior. He had more than 300 yards receiving and two touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball while recording 62 tackles and nine sacks at defensive end.
He’s also a standout in the classroom, sporting a 3.7 GPA, a 1260 on the SAT and a 24 on the ACT.
