"I visited Pitt on June 20," Gaskins said. "When I went on the campus tour I really liked it. The coaches really welcomed me. I felt like it was the place for me."
The football program also played a big part in Gaskins' decision.
"Coach Wannstedt is building it back up to the national level," Gaskins said. "I wanted to be part of that."
Gaskins is an excellent student with a 4.0 plus GPA.
"Pitt has some of the best academics around," he said. "It's a top flight school."
Gaskins also had scholarship offers from Maryland and Massachusetts.
He played center his junior year and led the way for two 1000 yard rushers. The 6-foot-2 and 280-pound Gaskins will move to tackle his senior season.
"I'll be a center, slash guard at Pitt," he said.
