Garrett heading out of state

La Marque, Texas offensive lineman Brandon Garrett had a little bounce in his step as he walked into work Wednesday afternoon. Garrett (6-foot-7, 290 pounds) verbally committed to Oklahoma State.
"I really like the coaches at Oklahoma State and the fact that my former teammate James Thomas is going there helps also," Garrett said. "I wanted to get the commitment out of the way so I can just focus on football and working out this summer."

Garrett was a part of the state championship team last year and is hoping to help his team get back there again in 2007. Because of age-related eligibility issues, Garrett says he's awaiting word from the UIL to see if he'll get that chance.
"I think it's going to work out and I'll get another year," he said.
For now he'll be working out in the La Marque weight room and spending time working at a part-time job.
Garrett is the fourth commitment from the state of Texas for Oklahoma State. Others include defensive end Tim Benford, kicker Quinn Sharp, and quarterback Kody Spano.
