Downers Grove (Ill.) North junior safety prospect Garrett Edwards (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) added his first scholarship offer on Monday, as the University of Toledo extended Edwards an offer.
"I received my first scholarship offer today (Monday) from Toledo," Edwards said. "The coaches from Toledo were in school on Monday and told my head coach (John Wander) that they were offering me a scholarship. The Toledo coaches also told my coach that they will be calling me later tonight (Monday) to confirm the offer."
Edwards is excited to land his first offer from the Rockets.
"I've never been to Toledo, and I'm still learning about the school, but I know that they have had great success in the MAC conference over the years and that they have gone to bowl games. Toledo also has a very good business program from what I've heard, and that's going to be my major. I'm excited about the offer from Toledo, and the coaches told my head coach that they are looking at me as either a safety or as a quarterback at this point. I'm going to take an unofficial visit to Toledo later this summer."
Edwards has also drawn several phone calls and in school visitors during the May evaluation period.
"I've received calls so far from Michigan State, Purdue, Ball State, Western Michigan, Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Several schools have also made in school visits so far. Wisconsin, Iowa, Purdue, Illinois, Oregon, Northwestern and Notre Dame have all been in school."
