Garnett targets major programs

Joshua Garnett has double-digit offers from some of the nation's top programs but the Puyallup, Wash., offensive tackle is still looking for schools to get involved - namely Florida, Miami, Alabama, Ohio State and Wisconsin.
"Those are some of the coaches that I'd like to hear from maybe why they're not looking at me," Garnett said.

"Is it because of my size or my footwork? Just so I could see from the big-time schools what kind of linemen they're looking for. Maybe I can mold myself toward that and become that type of lineman."
Auburn, Cal, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington and Washington State have already offered Garnett, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound prospect whose most recent offer came from the Beavers.
Garnett attended the NIKE Camp in Corvallis last spring and said Oregon State is under consideration because of how its coaching staff develops offensive linemen.
"I definitely look at those guys," Garnett said. "You can tell they turn guys who aren't very good, I'm not saying I'm not good, but they take guys who aren't very good coming out of high school and they make them machines.
"You see those OSU linemen, you don't hear about them coming out of high school, but they have good coaches down there that can mold them so that's something to look at."
Garnett, who's hearing more from Tennessee, BYU and Utah, doesn't have any unofficial visits scheduled and said he plans to wait to see which coaches really start talking to him and stopping by his school soon.
That will give him a better measure of which programs are truly interested and then he will base visits off that. It's still relatively early in his recruitment and Garnett said he doesn't have any true leaders at this point.
"I really haven't set any visits," Garnett said. "With the dead period being over soon, I definitely want to see which coaches show up. I want to see who's showing the most interest. I'll be looking at the schools more of who comes and makes it a priority and not the ones who just see me on their rounds.
"Until I know exactly what schools I have offers from I'm definitely going to wait it out and just talk to all the coaches and get their feedback."
