Gardner lands offer No. 1

Jumbo wide receiver Trey Gardner out of Dinwiddie, Va. pulled his first scholarship late last week. The 6-foot-5, 202-pounder landed the Division I offer from the MAC.
"I got my first offer on Friday from Miami (Ohio)," he said. "I think it's good. It's a good school and they have really good coaches. I'll probably trip up there this summer, but I don't know when yet."

A few other schools are taking note of the Richmond area prospect.
"NC State called my coach and invited me to their camp on Sunday," he stated. "They are really interested. Wake Forest is interested a lot too.
"NC State said most likely if I go and do well they'll offer me. I'm looking to go to other one days including Wake Forest, Syracuse, Connecticut and Virginia."
A few schools already have Gardner's eye.
"I'm liking NC State, Miami (Ohio) and Virginia," he said. "Virginia is because I've been there a bunch of times and I'm used to the coaching staff. Miami (Ohio) is since I talk to them and it seems like a good school. NC State is because of the camp and it's a good college."
