Garcia turning heads in San Antonio

San Antonio (Texas) Stevens defensive end Elijah Garcia stands out at 6-foot-5 and 260-pounds. He has received interest from Texas, Baylor, Colorado, Northwestern, and Oklahoma State, and he has already taken a few unofficial visits.
"I went to Baylor over the summer for a camp and I went to Texas a couple of weeks ago for a game," Garcia said. "It was a good tour and everything."

His trip to Texas was his most recent and there were a couple of things about the visit which caught his attention.
"Well, just the game it was really fast paced and just seeing how playing at the next level looked like," Garcia said. "It was pretty cool to watch."
He was invited to the Texas/Baylor game, but will not be able to attend due to Stevens playing a Saturday game this week.
Baylor, Colorado, and Northwestern have reached out to him on social media and Baylor and Colorado have sent a few handwritten letters. It is still early on in the recruiting process, but Garcia feels like he has already established a solid relationship with one coach.
"Coach Achuff from Baylor the d-line coach," Garcia said. "Just how he came out to visit Stevens to see how I'm doing. He seemed like a really cool coach and when I went to the camp we just really connected I guess."
Garcia and Stevens face San Antonio John Jay at 7 p.m. Saturday at Gustafson Stadium. The Falcons are currently 3-2, and Garcia feels good about his performance and the team's direction.
"I've been playing pretty well," Garcia said. "Some games we're blowing out teams and I don't get to play the fourth quarter and they put the twos in. It's been a pretty good season so far."
Garcia is currently rated a 5.5, three-star prospect.
