Garcia looking ahead to camps

Christian Garcia is anticipating this weekend's Asante Trenchmen Academy so he can compete against some of the top linemen in the West and prove he belongs in the conversation.
"The thing about Christian is that he's an experienced, veteran lineman, he has great movement, he's a leader on the line and he's very tenacious," Santa Fe Springs (Calif.) St. Paul coach Eli Asante said.

The Asante Trenchmen Academy is being held this weekend at St. Paul even though inclement weather is expected.
Four-star offensive linemen Aaron Cochran and John Lopez along with Colin Sutton, Ziad Damanhoury and other top prospects are expected in attendance.
Garcia, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound offensive lineman from St. Paul, is hoping to make his mark at the event which could lead to more recruiting attention.
Asante said his star player is hearing from UCLA and USC among other schools and things should pick up quickly for Garcia in the coming months.
The Asante Trenchmen Academy will be the first step for Garcia and then St. Paul is expected to host a social event for college coaches on May 17.
All the St. Paul players will be working out and Asante said UCLA, USC and other schools are expected to be there.
That exposure could also help Garcia and many other players as things pick up this off-season.
"All the schools will be coming through May 17," Asante said. "They're all interested and they'll be looking at him.
"USC, UCLA and others will be coming through and they'll be able to walk away with seeing him, his SAT scores and they'll see the complete package."
