“He’s ready to announce,” said Christy Quartlebaum, the sister of Hargrave Military defensive tackle Ray Gant.
“He’s going to Georgia. He called Auburn this morning and let them know, but he’s trying to reach Georgia to let them know he’s a Dawg.”
Gant is a 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive tackle that suddenly became a heated recruiting battle between Auburn and Georgia the past few weeks. In the end, Gant’s sister said the family atmosphere at Georgia led him to Athens.
And it sounds like the Dawgs are getting a good one.
“Once schools see Ray in person, they’ll offer,” Hargrave Military assistant coach Chris Snead said. “He’s a physical specimen and a very good football player.”
Gant hails from Chapel Hill, N.C. He is a four-star selection.
