Gamecocks rising for Georgia FB
A new leader may be starting to emerge for Brookwood (Ga.) fullback/linebacker Antonio Lamar.
“I’m really looking hard at South Carolina right now,” he said. “They called me a couple of days ago, and it sounded like they really want me. One of my coaches went there, and he’s told me that it would be a good fit. They have a good program and a good coaching staff.”

Lamar (6-2, 240, 4.56) has an official scholarship offer from Maryland, but hasn’t drawn a second one yet. South Carolina, Ole Miss and Middle Tennessee all made recent calls, so they could be candidates to offer in the near future.
“My top six is South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida and Maryland,” he said. “I still like Maryland a lot. The coaches are real nice. I’ll probably go up for a visit. I’m open to all of those schools, though. I’m just not sure right now.”
As a junior, Lamar had 1,210 yards rushing.
Academically, he maintains a 2.7 GPA and has scored a 1050 on the SAT.
