Elizabeth City is a small town in northeast North Carolina but the local high school has some major talent. Northeastern High School defensive end Traveon Freshwater is a member of the 2019 Rivals250 and close to ten schools have already offered him.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

“As of right now South Carolina is catching me eye,” Freshwater said. “They showed a lot of love and attention and they treat their student-athletes first. They are high for me right now. It's pretty big to play in the SEC. I always thought it would be cool to play in the SEC.

“I like N.C. State too,” he said. “I was always a fan of them.

“I'm supposed to go to the South Carolina and N.C. State game on September 2nd,” said Freshwater. “I'm looking forward to seeing how they play ball and seeing the atmosphere there in Charlotte.

“I'd like to hear more from Clemson and Alabama,” he said. “Clemson's come by once before. That was a big deal. Coach Barlow from N.C. State is pretty cool and so is coach Thompson from South Carolina.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

Freshwater is an athletic specimen college coaches should be dying for but not many have come after him yet. That should change soon with the evaluation period about to start up. South Carolina certainly has themselves in a good position for now and N.C. State will be in this for the long haul. It will be fun to watch how many and which schools come calling for Freshwater as the recruiting process moves forward.
