Gamecocks Get Top Prospect

Arguably the best player in the state of South Carolina is staying home.
"I cancelled my visit to North Carolina this weekend because I just felt there was no reason to go," said Moe Thompson, a 6-foot-3, 251-pound tight end who can also play defensive end. "I know alot of the players at South Carolina, coach Strong is a great coach and person and it just felt right to me."

Thompson decided to cancel his visit at the last moment feeling that USC was where his heart belonged.
"I think I would have been more excited about visiting UNC if I was that interested," said the star from Stratford, S.C. "I wasn't jacked up enough about it and that told me where I should go."
Thompson had offers from Clemson, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and many others but decided to stay in state.
"There's something about state pride as well," he said. "I just wanted to play in front of all those Gamecock fans."
