Gamecocks get next utility player

The Gamecocks have been looking for more players like senior utility player Ryan Brewer on the recruiting trail and they might have just received a commitment from a Brewer clone.
Belleview, Fla. safety Cody Wells has committed to South Carolina.

"I had an in-home visit with coach (Lou) Holtz and coach (Todd) Fitch last night and I just decided to commit," said the 6-foot-0, 180-pounder. "I went to USC for their game against Arkansas and I loved the place. I decided that it's the place for me."
Wells will play either safety or wideout for the Gamecocks and he'll return punts as well, similar to Brewer.
"They've mentioned his name before and said that I remind them of him," he said of Brewer. "I haven't really seen him play, but they tell me he does everything and is really tough. It's a compliment."
Wells said he'll take his official trip to USC on Jan. 10 and still might visit South Florida on Jan. 17 and Central Florida on Jan. 24.
"I'm still debating that, but USC has nothing to worry about," he said. "I'm very solid in my decision."
