Gamecocks add QB commitment

The South Carolina Gamecocks received a quarterback commitment today.

"Joe Joe committed to South Carolina," said Cordele (Ga.) Crisp County head coach Clay Hill of quarterback Joe Joe Brown. "He took a visit there last weekend and really saw some things that opened his eyes. He feels good about his decision despite his interest in committing to NC State last week. He committed to NC State but felt he owed it to coach (Lou) Holtz to take a look at USC. Once he looked at USC, he felt it was the place for him."

Brown chose the Gamecocks over offers from NC State, Maryland and Wake Forest.

"He cancelled his Wake visit," said coach Hill. "They were great throughout the process but he's solid with his decision. He felt that South Carolina wanted him more than anyone else."

Brown is ranked as the No. 22 dual-threat quarterback in the country.
