Gamecock commit impresses

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – One of the most impressive players in the first session of the North Carolina-South Carolina Shrine Bowl practices was South Carolina three-star offensive guard commitment T.J. Johnson of Aynor, S.C.
And for Gamecock fans that might be worried that the great start in the camp could attract more attention, don't sweat it.

"I am firmly committed to South Carolina," Johnson said. "There are other schools that are trying to recruit me, but I don't want to say that I'm looking at them because I'm firmly committed to South Carolina, no sense in getting into that."
Johnson said he's already building a good bond with several of the players in the game.
"Me and Dalton Freeman have been hanging out a lot," he said. "As far as the North Carolina (team), I've been hanging out with R.J. Mattes."
Johnson said the Gamecocks recruited him to play both of the interior positions.
"They said probably center or guard," he said. "They need a center right now."
