Gamboa starts to get noticed

Rick Gamboa does not have any offers yet but the prospects are bright for the 2014 linebacker from West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade.
The 6-foot, 217-pound inside linebacker has already taken an unofficial visit to Oregon and he's hearing from three other major programs.

Gamboa was definitely impressed during his trip to Oregon earlier this season and he said the coaching staff told him they'll keep a close eye on his progress for the remainder of this season and beyond.
"I got a tour around all the facilities and they showed me all the stuff they have," Gamboa said. "It's really nice up there.
"It's nice to see everything and see what kind of facilities they have up there. They said they want to see more from my junior year and see how I do for the rest of my junior year and then they might talk about an offer."
Nebraska, Washington and UCLA are also showing interest in Gamboa, who already has 87 tackles and 2.5 sacks through six games this season. West Hills Chaminade is currently 5-1.
The active, hard-hitting linebacker said he's happy with the way he's playing so far and hopefully he can receive even more recruiting attention in the second half of his junior year.
"Right now it's hard to tell who's the favorite because I'm just learning about the teams," Gamboa said.
"I feel like all the work I've been doing is really starting to pay off for me now."
