Gambles recruitment picks up

The momentum is building for Dallas (Texas) Lincoln cornerback Keivon Gamble. Gamble knew that it was only a matter of time before college coaches caught wind of his talent at cornerback and as the 5-foot-10, 165-pounder has gone through the camp season, more and more schools have been coming on. Most recently, Gamble picked up an offer from North Texas.
"I got an offer from North Texas," Gamble said. "Coach said to call Rivals and put that check by North Texas. I'm very interested in them. It has a great proximity to my home so my family can come up and watch me play any time and that's very important to me."

Along with North Texas, Gamble also holds offers from New Mexico State, UNLV and Arkansas State. However, Gamble believes that based on his recent performances, more offers are on the way.
"I was at the Texas A&M camp recently and it was a hot day and we ran our 40s on an indoor surface and it was hot and muggy so the turf was sweating and I slipped on my start but I still ran a 4.51," he said. "I feel that A&M is going to offer me. If A&M offers me, I know Oklahoma State will offer because when Coach Jones, Coach Trooper, Coach Luper and all those guys see that A&M has offered they won't want to be playing against me in the Big 12."
Gamble is a student of the game in several ways. Not only has his father coached him up in technique and footwork, but he also has an appreciation for the football history and that appreciation is one of the reasons why he has an interest in the Aggies of A&M.
"I listen to my father and I guess I'm a little bit old school like him and I look at [Texas A&M]'s coaching staff and you've got Mike Sherman from the NFL, Coach Cromwell, I remember him from the NFL. I remember coach Van Malone played in the NFL. I remember all them cats that's in their coaching staff so when it's time for me to make it to the NFL, I know Coach Sherman can make a phone calls and say, 'I've got this cornerback here you need to look at.'"
Gamble also doesn't simply have plans for the NFL. The articulate defender has some plans for after football as well.
"I want to major in business and marketing," he said. "There's always life after football. When I enroll in school, I don't want to be one of the players barely getting by. I'm going to utilize tutoring even if I don't need it."
This coming weekend, Gamble hopes to continue to impress as he will be attending the Tulsa camp on Friday and North Texas on Saturday.
"I know the receiver don't like to see me," he said. "Because I'm not letting them catch nothing and I know my position."
