Gamble making big impression at camps

There are two characteristics that are essential to being a successful cornerback. One is talent the other is confidence. For Dallas (Texas) Lincoln cornerback Keivon Gamble, there is no shortage of either and colleges are quickly discovering that fact. Currently, Gamble has offers from Arkansas State and New Mexico State. However his summer performances have quickly put him on the map of several major programs around the country.
Recently, Gamble competed at the University of Texas camp and the Oklahoma State camp. Both coaching staffs came away impressed.

"I went to the University of Texas camp and Mack Brown told me that I put them in a real precarious situation because they weren't expecting to find a cornerback of my caliber at this point of recruiting," Gamble said. "I went to the Oklahoma State camp that following Tuesday. I blew it up. As soon as we got back that Tuesday Oklahoma State said they wanted me back for their padded camp and I came back and I really showed them what I was made off."
Gamble is open to competing in any setting and he isn't scared to express his confidence.
"You can put this on Rivals, I am the top cornerback in Dallas," he said. "It's not (four-star cornerback) Steve Williams from Skyline. Me and him are friends and everything but I'm the big dog. I've gotten bigger and stronger. My 40 time is 4.46."
Gamble's confidence is backed up by his play this summer at camps but he also has been putting in the work in his training to put himself in a place to succeed. His father and a workout partner have both been ensuring that is the case.
"I've been working out with this college receiver Johnathan Haggerty from Southwestern Oklahoma State and he's the number one receiver in their conference. He's been helping me out a lot and my DB coach, coach Sands, I think he's the best DB coach in Dallas.
"My father played college ball and he's a cornerback. A lot of the stuff I know, the average high school corner doesn't know."
Along with Oklahoma State and Texas, Gamble has received interest all the way from south Florida at the University of Miami.
"I talk to so many scouts," he said. "Coach McGriff out of Miami, he wanted me to come to the Miami camp but that week I went to Texas. Coach John Blake from North Carolina is talking to me. I'm going to Texas A&M on the 13th and my father said that if I get my 40 down to a 4.44, he'll shoot me to Miami."
Among the other schools that have been showing Gamble interest are North Texas, Boston College, Wisconsin, Utah and West Virginia.
If Gamble continues to perform like he has been on the camp circuit, it is likely that his offer list will grow steadily over the coming months.
