Gales ready to visit Rebs

Three-star LaPlace (La.) JFK defensive end Dion Gales is preparing for his only two official visits the next two weekends.
“I’ll be going to Ole Miss this weekend and LSU next weekend,” he said. “I’ll have my decision after that.”

Miami has also been involved with the 6-foot-5, 255-pound standout. Where does that leave the Hurricanes?
“There won’t be any Miami trip,” he said. “But they’re still in there. I just don’t have time to do it.”
Asked how he’ll gauge Miami in the absence of any visits – official or otherwise – Gales said: “It’ll just be my relationship with the coaches and trusting them. Everybody knows Miami is a great place for a football player. I don’t think I necessarily have to see everything there. I’ve asked a lot of questions, both about football and academics.”
Gales said he doesn’t have a leader at this point. He admitted to knowing the least about Ole Miss, but said he’s excited about seeing Oxford this weekend.
“I would like to go somewhere they have a nice campus, some good professors and a nice graduation rate for their players,” he said. “I hear Ole Miss has all that. Football-wise, they’ve been winning. They had a great season this year. I just need to talk to my position coach, check out the depth chart, all that stuff.”
And what would make LSU an attractive pick?
“I like everything about them,” he said. “… The environment, the winning ways right now, how their defensive linemen stand out.”
Gales, who had 85 tackles and 25 sacks as a senior, is rated the No. 24 strongside defensive end in the nation by Rivals.com.
