Gainey has been impressive

The Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas is a game where players tend to pop out of nowhere and make a name for themselves. One player that has had a good week of practice and fits that bill is Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor cornerback Ed Gainey.
The 6-foot, 172-pounder has impressed both on the field in practices and off the field with his solid academics. He reported that he made straight As last semester and has already got a score of 18 on the ACT.

"I played corner, safety, receiver and slot back this season," Gainey said. "We lost in the 4A state championship game, but I had seven interceptions this season."
Gainey said most of his recruiting attention has been limited to smaller schools.
"Winston-Salem State, North Carolina Central and James Madison have been calling me the most," Gainey said.
"I grew up a Florida State fan. I'm hoping I impressed a lot of people this week and can now get even more attention."
Gainey said Levon Curtis has been one of the most impressive players that he's seen so far in camp.
He also likes the play of quarterback Jacob Charest. He said he's also really hit it off with E.J. Abrams-Ward and Bobby Morrison.
