Gaines a Vegas jackpot

Las Vegas is one of the most rapidly growing cities in America and with that you can expect the Division I talent to continue to rapidly expand every year. One player that impressed at the Los Angeles NIKE Training Camp and has been shooting up the charts ever since is Las Vegas High cornerback Jashaad Gaines.
Gaines, who is 6-foot and 202 pounds, has picked up scholarship offers from Oklahoma, Utah, Washington, and is getting heavy interest from Arizona State, New Mexico and others in the Pac 10.

"The NIKE Camp definitely helped," Gaines, who clocked an electronic 4.67-second time in the 40-yard dash, said. "I think it triggered this whole thing and got a lot of teams interested in me. I'm surprised how fast it really happened. I got a bunch of interest right after the camp.
"I went from just getting letters to having offers a few days later."
Two offers standout on the list for Gaines – Oklahoma and Washington.
"I was definitely stoked to get the offer from Oklahoma," Gaines said. "They're one of the best teams in the country, and they win a lot of games. I was tempted to jump it, but we're going to see what I'm going to do. I'm going to talk to my parents about them."
With Washington, Gaines said he's really impressed with Tyrone Willingham.
"He's a great head coach," Gaines said. "That's probably the biggest reason why I'm considering them."
So why are all these teams after Gaines?
"I just go get the ball and make plays on defense," Gaines said. "I guess I also have all the size that teams are looking for in cornerbacks now. I'm confident in my ability and know that I can get the job done."
