Gaia talks visits, leaders

Little has been heard from offensive guard Brian Gaia. The Baltimore (Md.) Gilman School prospect claims eight scholarships and has been on a pair of visits this spring.
"I've got eight offers from Boston College, East Carolina, Iowa, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Virginia and West Virginia," he said. "I'm getting interest from Tennessee, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Auburn, Penn State and Georgia Tech.

"I think the interest is pretty cool. I always wanted to play Division I football since I started playing football in seven grade."
To date, Gaia has taken two trips to West Virginia and Rutgers earlier this spring.
"I was at West Virginia a few weeks ago and Rutgers about a month or two ago," he said. "I liked both of them, I liked West Virginia a little more than Rutgers, but both were really nice schools.
"I just have a good relationship with the new line coach at West Virginia."
Does Gaia like anybody at this stage in the recruiting cycle?
"I really like Alabama and Penn State," he said. "I've always liked Penn State since I was a kid. I like the way Alabama plays on offense. I talked to Alabama recently and they want me to come down for their spring game and we'll see where it goes from there."
College interest is peaking for the Gilman lineman and he reflected on what he is looking for in a school.
"I want a good fan base, coaches I get along with and a good education. I'm looking to study business."
Gaia earned all-state honors this past season after helping Gilman to a deep run into the playoffs.
"I got a lot stronger and that helped a lot this year," he said. "I'm working to get faster, you can never be too fast."
