Gable makes his choice

Sylmar (Calif.) running back C.J. Gable just announced moments ago that he's headed to USC. Gable took visits to Mississippi, Cal, USC and Arizona before narrowing his choices to the Trojans and Cats. We caught up with Gable earlier in the week to get his comments on his decision.
"I've been favoring USC since last spring," Gable said. "It was always going to be tough for anyone to catch up them but I took my visits with an open mind and tried to make sure I was doing the right thing. The more I thought about it, the more clear things got for me and it ended up being kind of an easy decision."

Gable, 5-11, 190 pounds is a tremendous talent on both sides of the ball and could line up at running back, safety or cornerback for the Trojans. We feel he's one of the top five backs in the nation but we were very impressed while watching him work out at safety during the CaliFlorida Bowl practices and feel he could be an impact player on that side of the ball as well.
"I still don't know where I'll be playing," Gable said. "It really doesn't matter to me though, I don't have a preference between offense or defense, I just want to play. If anything, they have talked to me more about playing defense but nothing is really set in stone. We'll just figure all that out once I get there."
Gable nearly announced for the Trojans during the CaliFlordida Bowl game a few weeks back but decided to hold off.
"I knew I wanted to go to SC at the time and already told the coaches I was coming," Gable said. "I just wanted to take one more trip to be sure. Arizona had been recruiting me hard all year and I didn't want to have any regrets. I wanted to make sure I checked out all my options before I made my decision final so I wouldn't look back and wonder, 'what if.'"
As for specific reasons for why he liked the Trojans.
"It's the coaches and the winning attitude over there," Gable said. "They play hard and expect to win and I love the intensity of everyone there, players and coaches. The fact that the school is close to home and my family can watch me was pretty important too. I like it out here and this is where I'm most comfortable. USC is a good academic school too so there was just too many pluses to turn them down."
