Future Hokie has tough outing

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- Sumter (S.C.) quarterback/athlete Kendrick Pressley had a rough outing at the South Carolina North-South game on Saturday, but the Virginia Tech commit still showed flashes during the course of the contest.
"I didn't have a very good day today," Pressley said after the game.

Pressley led the South squad, which lost 24-0, on its only drive deep into North territory. The drive, which began at the South 40 and ended on the North 4 when Colorado-bound safety Devonne Quattlebaum picked off a Pressley pass in the end zone, allowed some to see the 5-foot-11, 170-pound playmaker's ability to move around the pocket and throw on the run.
For the contest, Pressley completed 5-of-8 passes for a net of 17 yards and the interception.
He spoke after the game about his decision to become a Virginia Tech Hokie, which came on Oct. 20.
"I picked Virginia Tech because they were my best offer," Pressley said. "Also, they have a history with mobile quarterbacks (Pressley wore No. 7 on Saturday, the same as VPI alum and Atlanta Falcons star Michael Vick) and they put a lot of players in the league."
He confirmed that the Hokies were going to give him a shot at signal caller, but that there is a secondary position he could also play.
"If quarterback doesn't work out, I can play slot receiver," he said.
Pressley confirmed he will make his official visit to Blacksburg on the weekend of Jan. 19.
Pressley had nearly 1,800 yards of total offense as a junior and followed that with 2,000 total yards as a senior. He is one of two South Carolina prospects committed to Virginia Tech in this year's class, joining Spartanburg (S.C.) Dorman tight end Andrew Lanier.
Pressley is a two-star rated prospect by Rivals.com.
