Future Five: Samuel in demand

The recruiting process is starting earlier than ever and prospects are sometimes
identified even before they reach high school. Much like our

series, we will spotlight five players per week that are early in their football
careers and have the potential to be highly touted college football prospects by
the time they graduate high school.
Who's Interested: Maryland is expected to offer soon and dozens will follow over the next few years.
What's Interesting: Johnson was a youth phenom in the Washington D.C. Metro area. At 6-foot-3, 290 pounds, he is already more physically developed than some college-bound seniors. Johnson is very strong and finishes his blocks on every play. College coaches will love the way he moves and how well he bends in the ankles, knees and hips. Watching him run wind sprints, he has the stride of a running back.
CB
Verone McKinley III (2018)
Plano (Texas) Prestonwood
Who's Interested: McKinley holds offers from LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and a few others.
What's Interesting: When he gets off the bus, McKinley isn't the most imposing player. He's only 5-foot-10 and just south of 165 pounds, but LSU pulled the trigger first because of his great technique and his high ceiling. There is plenty of room for him to grow. Watch for more schools to offer as McKinley develops physically.
DB
Asante Samuel (2018)
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas
Who's Interested: Everybody. Alabama, Florida State, Clemson, Michigan, LSU, Ohio State and many more.
What's Interesting: Samuel is the son of the former NFL All-Pro and two-time Super Bowl champion with the same name. Samuel's father was a star at UCF, but he is looking to attend a Power Five school with a shot at winning a national championship. Samuel still needs to develop physically, but he has excellent technique, is very fast and has a very advanced understanding of how to play the position. Miami is very high on his list at this point but there are plenty of schools that could dethrone the Canes.
QB
Brevin White (2018)
Mission Hills (Calif.) Bishop Alemany
Who's Interested: Arizona State and Washington State have offered White, but schools from coast to coast are interested.
What's Interesting: White has a ton of potential and Arizona State and Washington State have already gotten a jump on the competition. The Sun Devils landed a commitment from White's brother, Brady White, in the 2015 recruiting class and they are hoping Brevin follows. White has thrown for a handful of schools already, including Nebraska. Look for USC, Miami, Notre Dame, Northwestern and California to show interested interest over the next few months.
