Future Five: Freshman standout

The recruiting process is starting earlier than ever and prospects are sometimes
identified even before they reach high school. Much like our

series, we have been spotlighting five players per week that are early in their football
careers and have the potential to be highly touted college football prospects by
the time they graduate high school.
Who's Interested: Carman already holds offers from Michigan,
Wisconsin, Iowa
and others.
What's Interesting: Based on the offensive linemen those schools have churned out lately, those are probably three of the best stamps of approval out there. Carman is massive and would be a great fit in most offensive systems. His offer sheet is still pretty regional, but scholarships will come from all corners
of the country.
ATH
Ricky Person (2018)
Franklinton, N.C.
Who's Interested: Charlotte was the first school to offer Person but
N.C. State
and Duke followed pretty quickly.
What's Interesting: Person is from a small town northeast of Raleigh and is generally a pretty quiet kid. The two most interesting things about Person are that he has a few strong connections to NC State and that he can play so many different positions. Some people think he will be a safety or linebacker and others think he could be a wide receiver or running back. The position he wants to play in college will certainly have an effect on his recruitment.
DB
Jashon Watkins (2019)
Nashville (Tenn.) East Nashville
Magnet
Who's Interested: Ole Miss and Kentucky have shown early interest in Watkins.
What's Interesting: Watkins is so under the radar that people in Tennessee have barely heard about him. He's a 6-foot-4, 185-pound defensive back that has SEC written all over him. Watkins is also an impressive track athlete and that speed translates well to the football field. He's the type of player that would have double digit offers if he went to school in an area like Atlanta.
QB
Colson Yankoff (2018)
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
Who's Interested: The Idaho native has offers from the Vandals and
Texas Tech but
schools like Stanford, UCLA, Washington and
Boise State like him a lot.
What's Interesting: Very few Power Five players come out of Idaho, but there is little doubt Yankoff will go to a big-time program. He has already visited Stanford, Washington and UCLA. Texas Tech was smart to offer Yankoff early because many more offers are coming.
