Future Five: Early interest
The recruiting process is starting earlier than ever and prospects are sometimes

identified even before they reach high school. Much like our
series, we will spotlight five players per week that are early in their football
careers and have the potential to be highly touted college football prospects by
the time they graduate high school.
Who's Interested: LSU has offered and schools like
What's Interesting: Jason looks like he is next in a long line
of extremely talented wide receivers from Louisiana. The state has produced six
five-star receivers in the Rivals-era and all but one (Speedy Noil)
ended up at LSU. In fact, of the 27 wide receivers from Louisiana that finished
their high school careers rated at least a four-star, 16 of them ended up at
LSU. Will that hold true for Jason? Five four-star receivers from Louisiana have
chosen Alabama, second most in the Rivals era.

Who's Interested: Penn State was the first school to offer Parsons followed by Rutgers and N.C. State. Expect Pittsburgh and Temple to offer in the near future. What's Interesting: Parsons has already received so many awards and attention from the media that recruitment should be a breeze for him. There is little doubt he will have an offer from any school he could possibly want, but it will be an uphill climb for all of them because Penn State holds a commanding lead. Expect Parsons to do his due diligence with each offer, but Parsons has been all Penn State since the first day he set foot on campus. |

on their boards. What's Interesting: Already one of the top quarterback prospects in the sophomore class, there will be no shortage of scholarship offers for Sirmon. A strong-armed quarterback with good pocket presence, Sirmon was very impressive this offseason at Arizona State's camp but every school but USC is already at a disadvantage with Sirmon. His uncle, former Titans linebacker Peter Sirmon, is the linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator for the Trojans. |

Who's Interested: Smith holds an offer from Kentucky but schools like Michigan State and many others are evaluating him. What's Interesting: Smith has seemingly limitless potential. At 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, he could be very effective as a quarterback or wide receiver. Last weekend, Smith made a catch that was SportsCenter Top Ten. The early Kentucky offer is big for him but look out for Michigan State. Smith is visiting East Lansing with hundreds of other prospects for the Oregon game and don't be shocked if the Spartans extend an offer in the near future. It wouldn't be shocking because Smith's quarterback, 2016 Rivals250 signal caller Messiah deWeaver, is committed to the Spartans. |
