FSU offer for 2017 DB phenom

Class of 2017 Hinesville (Ga.) Liberty County defensive back Richard LeCounte is only a rising freshman, but he already has offers from of college football's biggest programs. But it wasn't until late last week that he added one from the defending national champions.
"Florida State came by last Thursday and let my coach know I had the offer," he said. "They want me as a free safety and they told me that If I want to win that's the place to do it."

LeCounte is currently 5-foot-10, 169 pounds, but said the Florida State coaches envision him developing as the years move along.
"They think I can fill out into the frame I have and be quite the player," he said. "They'll be back to see me for spring practice. I've never been down there before but hopefully I can go soon."
A three-sport athlete, LeCounte said he's been busy and hasn't been able to take many visits over the past few months. However, he was able to make a trip north to watch his former teammate Raekwon McMillan play in Ohio State's spring game.
"That was a great trip," he said. "The weather was good and Raekwon made some plays in the game so it was fun to watch."
LeCounte has visited Ohio State more than any other school and said he already feels very comfortable in Columbus.
"It was just like family when I got there," he said. "They just keep telling me that they want me and how they're going to need me when my time comes."
Despite his affinity for McMillan and the Buckeyes, LeCounte insisted he's keeping an open mind with nearly three years until he signs a letter of intent.
"I've never had a favorite I'm just trying to keep everyone on the same level for right now," he said.
