FSU making push for Palmetto OL

One of South Carolina’s hottest prospects is Sumter’s James Thompson.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive lineman has now added an offer from Florida State and plans to play host to the Seminoles on Wednesday.

“They’ve been calling me a lot lately, really coming on strong,” Thompson said. “Coach Sexton is supposed to come to school tomorrow. I’m looking forward to talking to him in person. I think we’re going to set up an official visit for Jan. 30.”
Thompson has three other visits in place – North Carolina (1/9), South Carolina (1/16) and Clemson (1/23).
“I don’t have a leader,” he said. “They’re all pretty equal right now. I like Florida State and the way they’ve been talking to me. With them, I think I have a nice opportunity to go to a great program and a school with good academics. With North Carolina, I also like the academics and my chance to get some early playing time.
“With South Carolina, I like the coaching staff and the business school. With Clemson, I like the coaching staff, the atmosphere there and also a chance to play early.”
Thompson is a dominating force on the line of scrimmage, thanks to his massive frame and strength levels that include a 405 bench press and 550 squat. He was named to the South Carolina all-star team that will square off with North Carolina on Dec. 20 in the annual Shrine Bowl.
