Frye-Smith looking for his first offer

While there were a number of major Division I players in the South Florida All-Star Game, one of the top performances of the evening came from a relative unknown. Hialeah (Fla.) American defensive back D.J. Frye-Smith had two interceptions and a number of tackles for the Dade County defense in their 21-20 overtime victory over Broward County.
"It was just a lot of hard work," Frye-Smith said of his performance. "It was about the defensive line getting pressure and the linebackers being in position so the ball was put up there where I could make a play on it. I was right there to make a play on it."

At this point, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound defensive back holds no offers.
"Right now I am just hearing from FAU and Wagner," Frye-Smith said. "I am quite sure they are going to offer me. I am 90% sure."
Frye-Smith believes he has shown enough on the field to earn an offer or two, and he intends to just continue to explore all avenues in hopes of earning a free college education and continue his playing career.
"I am very surprised," Frye-Smith said. "I am just going to keep putting my highlight tape out there and hope that someone jumps on it, seeing what kind of potential I have. I am not going to make them sad if they take a chance on me."
As a senior, Frye-Smith had eight interceptions. He also returned a kick for a touchdown.
Academically, he has a 2.8 GPA and earned a 1200 on the SAT.
