From the road: Virginia

Recruiting wrap: Lewis is committed to Arizona State.
Performance: Lewis was the engine that made the Ocean Lakes offense go. He carried the ball 17 times, running for over 100 yards and one touchdown. His running style really wore down the defense and he was able to pick up yards in chunks. It required at least two defenders to bring him down.

DB
Levonta Taylor (2016)
Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes
Recruiting wrap: Taylor last visited Georgia and Georgia Tech.
Performance: Taylor was his usual dominant self throughout much of the game. There wasn't a pass completed to his receiver and he showed excellent timing when driving on the ball and breaking up the pass. Taylor was also an effective return man on kickoffs and punt returns. He certainly lived up to the hype of being the top cornerback in the junior class.

DB
T.J. Griffin
Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes
Recruiting wrap: Griffin is committed to Wisconsin.
Performance: Griffin was very good on both sides of the ball. He projects as a cornerback and, except for a few mental errors early in the game, Griffin was very effective. He has great speed and it was very difficult for wide receivers to get separation. There was one play where the wide receiver ran a quick slant route but Griffin got a great jump on the ball and was able to break up the pass. He also dropped a sure interception later in the game. On offense, he scored a touchdown on a 15-yard run and ended with about 40 yards rushing.

LB
Tavante Beckett (2016)
Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith
Recruiting wrap: Virginia Tech, Maryland and many others are showing interest.
Performance: Beckett was easily the hardest hitter on the field. He has shown throughout the year that he has excellent vision and, while he may be a little undersized or not post the best 40 time, he is an excellent football player with fantastic instincts and knowledge of the game. Beckett has served as the heart and soul of Oscar Smith's defense since five-star Josh Sweat went down with a knee injury early in the year. He landed multiple big hits on the Ocean Lakes running backs, but he was not able to make every single play for the defense. With some good performances over the offseason, Beckett could see his offer sheet explode.

WR
Tahj Capehart (2017)
Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes
Recruiting wrap: Virginia Tech and Old Dominion have offered Capehart.
Performance: The Oscar Smith secondary found out who the fastest player on the field was when Capehart got behind their secondary a couple of times. When Capehart can get off of the line cleanly, he is nearly uncoverable. His straight line speed and explosiveness out of his breaks make it very difficult for any team to cover him with just one defender. He ended the night with four catches for about 120 yards and one touchdown.

RB
DeShawn McClease
Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith
Recruiting wrap: McClease is committed to Virginia Tech.
Performance: Oscar Smith's offense ran through McCleese as it normally does and he put up pretty good numbers but was not able to make as many explosive plays as usual. When he was able to square his shoulders and run downhill, he was very effective. but the Ocean Lakes defense was very good at stringing out plays to the outside. McClease's final stat line said he had about 25 carries for more than 120 yards with two touchdowns.
8
LB
Jahvoni Simmons
Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes
Recruiting wrap: Simmons is committed to Virginia.
Performance: Simmons was very stout in the middle of Ocean Lakes' defense and made his fair share of tackles. His most important play of the game was an interception he made that stopped a long Oscar Smith drive. Simmons has continued to shed bad weight and looked a lot more athletic and agile then he has in the past.
9
DB
Jahque Alleyne
Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes
Recruiting wrap: Alleyne is committed to Virginia Tech.
Performance: Alleyne played very well as the centerfielder of Ocean Lakes defense. He made plays from sideline-to-sideline and showed good instincts. On one play Alleyne ran from the sideline back to the deep center of the field while the ball was in the air to break up the pass. He also had one catch on offense.
10
QB
Brendan O'Neil
Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes
Recruiting wrap: O'Neil does not hold any offers.
Performance: O'Neil had a good game once the early jitters wore off. He provided a lot of explosiveness getting the ball down field to his good receivers. He was 5-for-6 for over 120 yards. He was also good at scrambling away from pressure and even pulling down the ball and running. O'Neil gained 79 yards on the ground on eight carries.

QB
Shon Mitchell (2017)
Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith
Recruiting wrap: O'Neil does not hold any offers.
Performance: O'Neil had a good game once the early jitters wore off. He provided a lot of explosiveness getting the ball down field to his good receivers. He was 5-for-6 for over 120 yards. He was also good at scrambling away from pressure and even pulling down the ball and running. O'Neil gained 79 yards on the ground on eight carries.

DB
Keyvone Bruton (2016)
Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith
Recruiting wrap: Burton holds offers from Duke, Old Dominion and Virginia Tech.
Performance: Like Mitchell, Bruton started off the game very well on offense and defense. Offensively, he lined up at tight end and came up with a couple of key catches to keep the offense on schedule. He finished with three catches for about 40 yards. On defense, Bruton came up with a number of tackles and was good at being the last line of defense.
OTHER PROSPECTS
DE
Dedrion Bacote (2016)
Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith
Bacote is a long defensive end with a great frame to fill out. He had an up-and-down game, but it was impressive to see him chase down a lot of plays from behind.
DE
Josh Sweat
Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith
Sweat, a five-star, was looking on as his team took on one of their biggest rivals. He was not able to play because of a knee injury he sustained early in the season.
DB
Anthony Womack
Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes
Womack is another defensive back for Ocean Lakes that has a lot of potential. He came up with a few tackles and made an impact on special teams.
QB
Tyler DeSue (2018)
Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes
Even though DeSue did not get a chance to play,t he is one of the young playmakers in the state of Virginia that people have been talking about. Look for him to make a big splash next season.
WR
Sean Daniel
Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith
Daniel started off the game very well for Oscar Smith, catching too early touchdown passes to put Oscar Smith up 14-0. He ended the game with five catches for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
